You know the Skechers (SKX) brand as it keeps ending up on more and more feet as a popular shoe brand. They specialize in leisure footwear where they continue to dominate showing up quite clearly in impressive long term growth and share price gains.
However, shares stumbled mightily in mid September after they noted that demand in China is weaker than expected. This had shares tumbling 10% that fateful day with shares languishing ever since.
As analysts dug into the details they saw this was not just a Skechers problem…but an industry wide problem. In fact, softness in China had been noted in several other industries including semiconductors.
More importantly, analysts saw enough strength in Skechers sales channels in other parts of the globe that no one reduced earnings estimates coming into the October 24th earnings announcement. This was the right move as Skechers beat estimates by 10% with re-affirmed guidance which points to 20% year over year growth.
Top Wall Street analysts are very pleased with what they see in this report leading to a wave of reiterated Buy ratings along with an average target price around $80. Even better, you have some raised target prices where analysts are pounding the table for even more upside. (See all analyst activity for SKX here).
Thanks to the recent sell off we get to buy shares closer to $60 which points to ample upside potential. However, as we move into 2025 they are expected to earn over $5 per share. Thus, it's not hard to imagine SKX hitting $100 by the end of 2025.
